Governor Ricardo Rosselló Nevares took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for a mixed-income housing project in Caguas, framed as part of the administration’s commitment to serving the island’s most vulnerable communities and to building efficient, cost-effective and dignified housing in the wake of Hurricane María.

Representing an investment of more than $130 million, the modern complex will include a 238-unit building of family townhomes and walk-up apartments of one to four bedrooms, plus a 200-unit building for older adults (190 one-bedroom and ten two-bedroom units) equipped with appliances, ceiling fans and air conditioning. It will also feature an administrative building with community rooms, business areas with Wi-Fi and gyms.

Housing Secretary Fernando Gil Enseñat highlighted the focus on resilient, modern and affordable housing. The disaster-resistant design includes enhanced lighting, access-controlled parking, smart locks and smart home security, along with walking and exercise trails, playgrounds and a public park with a main plaza and gazebos. Also participating were Caguas Mayor William Miranda Torres, McCormack Baron Salazar president Vincent R. Bennett, and Citibank Puerto Rico general director Guillermo Gómez.
