F&R Construction Group · Puerto Rico

The company led by brothers Ángel Antonio “Toño” Fullana Olivencia, president, and José Miguel “Jama” Fullana Olivencia, secretary, was founded 49 years ago and has more than 150 employees.

For the Fullanas, working as a family comes naturally. Parents and children together run F&R Construction Group, Inc., one of the most solid and respected companies in Puerto Rico’s construction industry. The brothers never pressured their sons — José Miguel “Ito,” Manuel Jaime “Nolo,” and Antonio “Toñito” Fullana — to join the firm, yet doing so was a natural step for each of them, having worked on projects since childhood.

The relatives describe the main challenge as separating the roles of family and boss, but say the trust that comes from working with people you know so well is a rare advantage. They speak with mutual admiration — the elders praising their children’s integrity, honesty and work ethic, and the sons highlighting their father’s and uncle’s dedication and sense of responsibility, along with healthy debate that always reaches consensus. Among their biggest tests, they recall running 28 projects at once in the early 2000s and, after Hurricane María, repairing 23,000 homes in a single year as part of Puerto Rico’s reconstruction.
